What we do
Specialist Stroke Rehabilitation is provided for patients with an East Lancashire GP who have had a diagnosis of a recent acute stroke and transient ischaemic attacks.
We provide specialist stroke services which include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and psychology services. We also provide:
- Early supported discharge
- Functional electrical stimulation
- Swimming programmes
- Life after stroke 6 week programme
- 6 week review for all patients offering secondary prevention advice
- Comprehensive mood screen
- Blood pressure and pulse checks
How to access the service
Referrals are taken from the acute stroke unit at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital, the stroke rehabilitation ward at Pendle Community Hospital, other health professionals, social services and self-referrals.
Where to find us
We see patients in their own home, residential/nursing homes and residential rehabilitation settings. We see patients from 1-12 weeks and we are able to support patients for early supported discharge.
