We provide high quality healthcare services primarily to the residents of East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen, which have a combined population in the region of 530,000.
This is a short stay unit where children with minor illness can be seen and assessed by experienced paediatric nurses and doctors. Children who are unwell can be observed for a few hours with the aim of being discharged home.
The unit undertakes some investigations as deemed necessary and liaises with other professionals such as health visitors, school nurses, safeguarding, physiotherapists and dieticians.
Children may also be referred to the unit to have other procedures such as dressings changed, intravenous therapy (for example antibiotics after inpatient admission).
The unit receives referrals from GP surgeries, the Urgent Care Centre at Burnley, midwives and nurse practitioners.
We are located in Area 3 on Level 2.
