NHS East Lancashire and NHS Blackburn with Darwen Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) are seeking the views of people who use, or have used the Bowel & Bladder Service.

The Bowel & Bladder Service provides expert nursing assessment and advice to the population of East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen for those individuals experiencing bladder and bowel incontinence, chronic bladder and bowel conditions (excluding stoma patients) from age 4 years.

East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen CCGs are responsible for buying health care services on behalf of local people and are reviewing this service as part of the ongoing work to ensure that it is meeting the needs of patients who use it. The CCGs commission East Lancashire Hospital Trust (ELHT) to deliver some community services to patients living in Pennine Lancashire and one of these is the Heart Failure Nursing Service.

Dr Santhosh Davis, local GP and Integrated Care Lead at the CCG said:

“Our overarching aim is to improve health and wellbeing outcomes and the quality of care for our population. We have a unique opportunity, in undertaking service reviews to do so in partnership with patients and the public. By listening to people’s views about the Bowel & Bladder Service we can use this information to develop and improve the service so that it really meets the needs of patients.

“We are asking people, about their experiences and views of this service as part of a wider stakeholder engagement campaign called ‘Your Services, Your Say’.”

People who have used this service (as a patient or carer), or with any experience of the service, for example as a health or social care professional  are encouraged to submit their views on the following three questions:

1. What do you like about the service?
2. What, if anything could we do better?
