The ED and Urgent Care Centre at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital are currently undergoing essential work to improve the waiting room and reception areas.  The work has been on-going for the last two weeks and will continue for the next 9 days.

The next stage – commencing Wednesday 18 September will mean that the entrance for walk-in patients will be closed. Access into the Urgent Care Centre will be via the Ambulance entrance.

The reception area will be re-provided within the Urgent Care Centre with staff throughout the department to help signpost patients and relatives to the appropriate area.

The work will mean that access and egress into the ED will be difficult, therefore patients are requested to really consider whether the ED is the most appropriate place to meet their needs.
