Blackburn College Outpatients Art

Patients and visitors to the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital now enjoy artwork created by talented students from Blackburn College.

As part of their Level 2 Art & Design studies, the students spent several months creating each piece of artwork which were officially unveiled last week in the General Outpatient department at the hospital.

Blackburn College Art Lecturer, Anna Ashworth, said: “All the pieces selected were based on a theme of ‘light’ and the students hope that the artwork on display will contribute to a calm relaxing environment in the Outpatients area.”

“Our students are proud to represent Blackburn College and have the opportunity to showcase their work in the local community.”

Students creating artwork for the Hospital include Zahira Begum, Tyler Roper, Hafsa Sharif, Victoria Atkins, Urmila Chowdhury, Jade Murray, Erin Livesey and Fayaz Ughradar.

Jacqui Booth, Outpatient Reception & Health Records Manager at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “We are overwhelmed with the generosity and standard of art work from the students. The pieces look fantastic and compliment their surroundings.”

“We’ve had a lot of excellent comments from patients who say how beautiful the art looks and we’d like to thank members of the Outpatient Partnership Group for their assistance with this project and everyone involved at Blackburn College.”
