Ward 2 is an 18 bedded adult, female ward with medical cover. A small number of GP practices admit directly to the ward from community settings, however the vast majority of patients are transferred from other hospitals.

Ward 2 admissions must require 24-hour nursing care and fall into the following groups:

  • Palliative care patients for symptom control, or following the integrated care pathway for the last days of living, including preferred place of care
  • Post-operative patients from acute hospitals following orthopaedic, gynaecological or general surgical procedures in the sub-acute phase
  • Patients who need further medical oversight in a hospital setting
  • Patients who require blood pressure monitoring and medication observation
  • Patients who need management of a condition
  • Patients with a nursing need which cannot be met in the community
  • Patients who have fallen and a reason needs to be identified to prevent further falls
  • Facilities for patients who require observation and investigation
  • Patients who require investigations (blood monitoring, x-rays, observations) to diagnose condition and avoid acute hospital admission.

Visiting times for Ward 2 are from 2pm - 8pm.
