The Trust has re-launched its charitable funds with a new name and new look - ELHT&Me - and is encouraging staff and public to get involved and help raise funds for key equipment that will benefit both patients and staff.
We asked staff to submit their suggestions for a new name and then vote for their favourite. The three most popular shortlisted were considered by the Chief Executive and Chairman, with ELHT&Me chosen as it best reflected the fact that the Trust is central to the community and to individuals, either as a provider of care and treatment, a place to work, or a supporter of local businesses.
Anyone raising money for ELHT&Me by undertaking a challenge will be provided with a branded t-shirt, supporters pin badge and offered help with publicising their event or donation. All donations, however large or small, will be gratefully received and will go to benefit patients and staff delivering their care.
The Trust has over 20 different charitable funds supporting individual wards and services. These will now be streamlined into the single ELHT&Me fund, with donors still be able to stipulate how they would like their monies to be spent or which area they would like to support. More information will be available soon about how you can get involved to raise money and also apply for funds for your area.
ELHT&Me is a registered charity (no. 1050478) which supports the work of East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.
Your efforts, support and donations make a huge difference for patients; improving the hospital environment, buying state-of-the-art medical equipment, funding research and teaching and helping us to go way beyond the NHS standard.
Charitable funds consist of:
• money donated to the Trust in appreciation
• money left in a legacy for the benefit of the Trust (or a certain part of the Trust)
• money which has been raised through fundraising events
• money which has been donated as a result of a fundraising appeal
The income generated, mainly through donations and legacies, helps to enhance the services of the Trust. ELHT&Me ensures that all funds donated to the NHS are dealt with and accounted for properly, in accordance with Charity Commission and NHS regulations.
Donations are used to enhance those aspects of NHS patient care and staff development which are not funded by the government. East Lancashire Hospitals Charitable Trust ensures, through its Trustees, that donated funds are not used where the expenditure is more appropriate from mainstream NHS government funding. Charitable funds are used for a range of purposes, including additional medical equipment, medical research and improvements to patient facilities.
